I have been practising yoga since my twenties and have had many wonderful teachers in different styles of yoga - including Ashtanga, Iyengar and Hatha traditions. My own yoga journey has recently led me to develop my meditation practice, as I truly believe that yoga and meditation can bring life changing benefits. I would like to see these simple, affordable practices introduced and used by more people - in schools, businesses, in the community - in fact, anywhere where there is a need for calm, focus and compassion.
Inspiring teachers and ongoing study influence my own teaching, but my main commitment is to the people I teach. My aim is to encourage people to develop their own interests and abilities. I am particularly interested in yoga therapy and how yoga can be adapted to the individual during different stages of life. I write regularly on yoga and health and my work has appeared in a number of publications including Om magazine, Yoga and Health, Spectrum, Yoga Magazine and Yoga International. I have broadcast experience, commenting and advising on health, yoga and other areas. I am also a York Learning Mindfulness and Wellbeing Tutor and run Wellness at Work training and workshops.
Regular workshops reflect my training and interest in a number of related areas including: trauma, death, dying and bereavement, sleep and adapting yoga to individual needs to enhance mental and physical wellbeing.
Yoga Teacher Training is a way to 'give back' some of the knowledge, insights and inspiration that I have received from others over the years and I continue to be grateful to all the wonderful students that practise with me.

I went to my first ashtanga yoga class when I was 14, although I remember practising yoga with my mother from an early age - headstands were my favourite pastime! Following university and a professional career, I decided to retrain in areas that would not only enrich my life, but would also enable me to help others experience the benefits of yoga and other therapies.
I have experience teaching at health clubs and classes around York. I also teach yoga for pregnancy, which compliments my massage therapy. We have developed Yoga Tone, which is increasingly popular - a challenging, dynamic practice that improves fitness, as well as developing strength and flexibility.
I also assist on the 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training and continue to develop and explore through my own practice and studies.
